Rareflight Must Die (A Requiem of Sorts)
Ken Wilber warns that psychological pathology can occur at any level, stage or state of consciousness - even at integral/centaur/turquoise and beyond. I've had some eye-opening lessons in that lately, as applied to myself and some other Zaadzsters. These dysfunctions, pathologies and delusions are certainly more subtle, but no less serious, no less damaging. In a way, they are worse than the lies we told ourselves at lower stages, because of the subtlety and perniciousness of it all. It's easier to be self-congratulatory, superior and have some peace that your actualizing your higher self, and still be dead-nuts wrong. Deluded. Moving away from Spirit, because true Oneness requires just being with things as they are, having completeness awareness of self and Self and striving for death of ego, not embrace of it.
We all know that on Zaadz, it's easy to be anyone we want to be. If people want to (especially the more insecure types), they can make their lives grander and more exotic; they can make up all manner of fantastical (emphasis on fantasy) stories about places they travel, their accomplishments in life and how they spend our days. Why do they do this? Well, perhaps they're not comfortable with who they are, or perhaps there are issues they haven't resolved, and this has become an escape of sorts. I'm sure the reasons are numerous, and people can - and have - written whole books on the why.
The thing is, if people are so inclined, they can delude you for some time about who they are and how they are. It becomes difficult to tell who is whom, and what you can trust. Teachers may turn out to be false, or at least less equipped to offer guidance than you can give yourself. Friends may not be who or what they say they are or would have you believe. We can be tricked by coaches, confidants, fellow artists and friends if all we see of them is an icon and words on a page. If we're not careful, pursuit of higher meaning can become an indulgence of narcissism. I know most of you know this, as I did, but you can still lose your way.
Pablo Picasso said: "Every act of creation begins with an act of destruction."
This will be the end of Rareflight. Renewal and rebirth is possible only if there is decay and death. What must happen in between is a closing of this door, a long walk through barren landscapes, and some days and nights spent in Socrates' cave. Through austerity I will find emptiness, and through emptiness I will find wholeness. I'm leaving Zaadz now, and if I return it will only be as a reincarnation, a new entity in a new life with more fully realized purpose. You may recognize me, by my writing, by my affiliations and associations. By their fruits ye shall know them. Or perhaps not. But if I do return, it will not be Rareflight, it will only be as a newly born sentient being. This new creature will have a more fully realized Self, more aware of the illusions that can cloud Spirit at any juncture, and more sophisticated about those diversions and tricksters that can accompany any space and time, including Zaadz.
I humbly wish all of you peace, and joy and full realization of the many gifts and talents that each of you have. As I leave I'll share an excerpt from another Pablo, the great Neruda:
I'd be back in an instant,
like a wraith in the emptiness,
staggering under the grapes
and asking for someone's guitar.
But since no one would be there
and no one would understand anything,
I'd find my way out again, closing
the door that no longer exists.
Au revoir, Zaadz. I'll softly close the door behind me, a door that no longer exists.
